I’m Andre Lucas, the founder of Abroadiversity. My journey into global education began in Oklahoma, where I was selected as a Rotary Youth Exchange student to Taiwan during my junior year of high school. That year abroad changed everything. It opened my eyes to the world, sparked a deep love for language and culture, and set me on a completely different path.
I went on to earn my undergraduate degree through New York University’s global program, living and studying in Shanghai and Buenos Aires. Along the way, I learned Spanish, improved my Mandarin Chinese and gained a global perspective that’s shaped my life and career.
After college, I spent years working across industries from tech in Silicon Valley, to solar projects in East Africa, to sustainable development in China. But like many Americans, I graduated with over $60,000 in student debt. It took me four years to pay it off, and during that time, I felt stuck and unable to pursue the passions and opportunities I truly cared about.
The turning point came when I realized some of my peers, who had studied in Europe or Asia for a fraction of the cost, were landing the same jobs back in the U.S. without the burden of crushing debt.
That realization led me to launch Abroadiversity: a service that helps high school students and parents discover affordable, accredited, and often life-changing opportunities to earn full degrees abroad. Whether it’s saving money, gaining a global edge, accessing work visas, or applying for international scholarships, my goal is to make sure the next generation knows: there’s a world of opportunity beyond the U.S. college system, and I can help you access it.
